We met this guy after practice one day for a mini-shoot. It's a little more in-depth than a typical team photo and posed shot. I did some natural light and I had some flash to add a little depth. I'm really liking how these came out. In personal news, combining my love of sports and photography is really fun.
This first picture is an example of an All-Star Montage.
]]>Merry Christmas to all of you.

This is such a great family that has been there for us many times when we needed it and we were honored to be able to snap some pics of them.
We ask that you keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.
The instructions were to sneak up on them and hug them..........they ran.
and then this happened. A blindside sack of the quarterback.
Don't worry. There were no trips to the ER during the shoot and they all bounced back up with smiles.
I met Katie when I was teaching 5th grade. She was in that class. This is making me feel really old. :) Anyhow, it has been great to watch her grow up over the past years into a wonderful human. I'm excited to see where the Lord will take her, because she's going to do great things for the Kingdom.

We had met Caroline's mom, Amy over the past couple of months, but we never really shared the information that we shoot people ;) until she saw Jaycie's pics. We put two and two together and walaaa, this shoot happened. :)
We had so much fun at the IMA with Caroline, Amy, and her tag-a-long awesome sister Elise.
Let's start off with a sister picture. :)
I couldn't decide on which edit of this one, so......I included three different ones.
Lindsay sometimes asks our clients to do some interesting things :)
I love symmetry. I love symmetry. I love symmetry.
Right before this shot, Caroline says, "It's getting to be the golden hour." I don't think I've ever heard a senior speak of the importance of when to shoot. She must understand a thing or two about cameras :)
Sometimes the light, the location, and the subject produce amazing results. Magazine Cover?
]]>First off, this family has the best last name ever :) and also has some really cute kids as well. We had a blast waving at the tractor, not trying to roll the wagon back down the hill, and watching Shaun dance like crazy. :) Thanks so much for letting us capture some moments of your family.

We had so much fun hanging out with this family. :) Maybe it was just because Brian and I were chatting about basketball so much :)
I really like people who share my affinity for coaching basketball culture. (That's an Elf movie reference by the way.)
In all seriousness, this family and ours are so similar it's a little freaky... even down to the part about how they work together. Lindsay and I worked side by side for about 5 years and continue to do so shooting people with cameras. I love this little boy's facial expressions :)
Legos! Or what I like to call, carpet spikes. :)
Ok. Maybe not, but Brian did go down. :)
Thanks.

]]>The scenery for this shoot isn't our typical Indiana backdrops. It's because we traveled all the way to Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. That seems a long way to go for a shoot, but it was totally worth it to capture Meagan.
]]>Also, thanks to Mandy, Jaycie's mom, and Jaycie's awesome friend, Sierra, for the help as well :)

]]>Anyway, back to the reason why we were there: to snap a few of this couple and their announcement.
Venturing out into the boat was a little tough. Actually, it was quite funny. :)
In my classroom, I do a Pun of the Day. This sign made my day.
Had to take another of this. I just had to. I couldn't pass on it.
This guy tagged along, as well. he provided some comic relief.
I have a feeling that "little brother" is going to get a lot of kisses from "big brother."
Congrats! :)

]]>First up was A and G.
Lindsay already knew A and they rekindled their friendship. Apparently, A only wanted to go to Kindergarten if Lindsay would be there :)
It took a while for G to warm up to us. But he eventually did crack a smile or two. :)
Next up was L. She was downright hilarious, obsessed with princesses, and has the best facial expressions. :)
Next up was Miss H, who brought some spunk in her Cinderella dress. She turned it on for the camera. :)
Next up were siblings K and K. Miss K was so sweet.
And her brother, K, was a bundle of energy as he played in the creek. I think it took him about 3 seconds to get his feet all muddy. :)
Lindsay wanted to get in the water with K. I decided to let her get in instead. ;) I'm not really into squishy stuff on my feet without any boots on. I have really sensitive feet. Make fun of me all you want, but I've never been able to walk across a gravel driveway without it really hurting. :) Lindsay shot some pictures toward K for a while. Then, she handed me the camera.
This next one went like this:
"Hey K, look at me for a second." Click. Off he went. He looked at me for about 1/2 a second and poof, he was off exploring. I think it came out pretty well. Lenz was a little jealous.
Next up was W and E. We started off with W, and then a big surprise happened. Officer Calloway of the Plainfield Police Department happened to drive by on patrol at that time. W's dad took off to inform him of W's plans for the shoot that W was dressing up as a police officer and he thought it would be cool to have some pictures with the squad car. Little did we know, Officer Calloway, was super nice and showed W all of his gear and let him use some SWAT team gear in his shoot. We really appreciated Officer Calloway taking time out of his day, to make the day for W. He'll have an amazing story to tell forever.
Finally Miss E got her turn. She waited so patiently at the impromptu shoot that Officer Calloway helped with.
There's a funny story about the bubbles, but I'll just say there was a funny story and leave it at that. :)
Ariel and Flounder.
Listening to a "shell phone." :)
Mr. Bear definitely stayed imaginarily hydrated today.
While E was finished up, W just decided to have his own conversation and tea with Mr. Bear. Mr. Bear is a pretty good listener.
Finally, Miss E ended the evening at sunset on this crazy hot and humid day. We booked right through all of her outfit changes despite the mugginess.
All in all, it was a great day. Yes, it was hot, humid, muggy, and full of sweat, but it was also full of so much joy as these little princesses (and a couple fisherman, and a police officer) were transported to imaginary places.

]]>Anyway, Coatesville is a very small town, but that didn't matter today. There were a lot of cars. In fact, there may have been more cars than people who actually live in the town. Ok, that might be stretching it, but still, there was a lot. I just pulled out the camera for a bit to snag a few. My pics don't really tell the whole story of how many there were. I kind of just wanted to take it all in instead of taking a bunch of pics. Plus, Harper wanted me to carry her for a while. Then, Dad and I, walked around together and I enjoyed listening to him talk about cars because he has always liked them, also.

Can I pick that one up to throw it?
A little help from big sis.
Do I really have to look at that crazy man?
Can't quite get it over the rail.
Those eyes. That smirk.
He's off an another adventure...probably searching for the best rock ever.
]]>This little guy had to be exhausted after already having his first birthday party earlier in the day. He took a little bit to get comfortable with a big camera around him, but we eventually got to see his personality.
Big sister was a super help to little brother and you can already see how much they like each other.
And finally, a quick family shot. I love the framing of the trees in this one. And the light was about as perfect as you can get on this evening.

It's been a long time, probably 3-4 years or so, that we took a break from photography. Over that time, we've doubled our family size to 4 and have devoted most of our time to raising our family. It's been fun, challenging, and amazing all in one. They've gotten a little older and we've missed being behind the lens. During our "retirement" phase, it has been refreshing getting asked many times for us to capture memories and moments for friends and families. We just weren't able to keep up with everything and didn't want to commit to something that would take us a while to get back on our end.
After watching from afar, it's been neat to watch the photography industry change over time. Cameras have gotten better, editing software has improved, the way we did "business" from 5 years ago almost isn't relevant anymore. We've decided to streamline some things to make it easier on our end. We're shooting more simply, more about moments, and more about relationships. It's not about the portrait, but about the person in the portrait. I think after having our own kids, we have a better feel for what really is important. Instead of making a shot, it's more about letting the moment unfold and capturing that instant in time. I want our shoots to be more relaxed this time around and filled with more joy and laughter. It's not that before wasn't, it just felt more like a job that needed to be done. I didn't really like that feeling. It felt more like a burden. So we've decided to schedule things a little better. A little more relaxed and a little more chill.
Lindsay has some current ideas up her sleeve. Honestly, I think she's missed it more than I did. Her mind never really stops thinking about ideas for shoots, poses, and the business side of photography.
As we get back into this realm, I hope you'll consider us.
Thanks!
Matt and Lindsay
